No matter which slide you decide to go with, our table slides can help you squeeze a few more people at the table. What To Consider When Choosing a Table Slide? Is My Table Base Fixed? If the base of the table is fixed and does not move when the table opens up, the best type of table slide would be an equalizer slide. These slides help the table open and close smoothly while staying in balance. Is My Table Base Split When Opening? If the base of the table splits apart when the table is open, standard slides are best. These slides open and close using a butterfly notch to ensure an easy open and close every time. What Length Would Support My Table? To calculate the best length for your table, you first need to know how long the table is when closed without the leaves. You will want the table slide to be no shorter than half of that length. Getting the Most of Your Table Slides Store in a dry area Softly squeeze the parts together to eliminate looseness during installation Install slides parallel to one another Open the slides about 1/4" when installing Be sure to use the proper slide for your table Standard Slides Standard table slides, used for opening and extending four-legged tables, consist of a series of parallel boards. These boards are connected using a male and female butterfly notch that allows the boards to slide back and forth smoothly. These slides can accommodate for openings from 26" to 120" in length. Please note: these slides develop a camber to compensate for sagging at the ends of the table. This is important to remember when selecting which slide to use. Equalizer Slides Tabletops supported by a single pedestal require equalizer slides. These slides incorporate a rack-and-pinion system that ensures the top opens and closes with ease while staying in balance. Our equalizer slides will permit openings from 25-1/2" to 79" in length. Please note: these slides develop a camber to compensate for sagging at the ends of the table. This is important to remember when selecting which slide to use. Standard Equalizer Slides By combining the camber of the standard slide and the smooth rack-and-pinion mechanism of the equalizer slide, standard equalizer table slides are used to assist over-sized four-legged tables with center supports. The stabilizing element keeps the center of the slide stationary, allowing the center supports to attach to the slides and increase the strength of the table. These slides are excellent at preventing sag in the center of the table while giving a wide range of lengths. We recommend mounting the table slides symmetrically. Symmetrical mounting eliminates the possibility of desynchronization of the equalizers and reduces the pressure on the blocks to maximize the lifespan by minimizing wear. Typically, extension tables will need additional support every 60 inches.
